Opis
In an era of constant stimulation and fragmented attention, maintaining student focus has become one of the central challenges of teaching. This workshop explores attention not as a student trait, but as a design outcome of teaching.
About the Workshop
Grounded in cognitive science, attention research, and neuroscience, participants examine why students disengage and how lesson structure, task design, and emotional climate influence attention. Contrary to common myths, attention is not fixed but highly responsive to cognitive load, relevance, and emotional safety.
Drawing on current research and insights aligned with Generation Alpha in the Classroom, the session highlights that effective learning environments are those that balance structure with variability and actively manage cognitive demands.
Participants engage in hands-on redesign of classroom tasks and develop:
- short “attention cycles” within lessons,
- strategies to reduce cognitive overload,
- techniques to re-engage attention without technology.
Learning outcomes
Participants will:
- understand mechanisms behind attention loss,
- design lessons that sustain engagement,
- implement practical routines that improve focus immediately.
